Canadian forward with Liberian and Ghanaian roots, Alphonso Davies, marked his much-awaited return from injury on Tuesday night, climbing off the bench to feature for Bayern Munich in their UEFA Champions League clash against Sporting CP.
The versatile full-back has been out of action for up to nine months with an ACL injury.
Davies suffered a right knee ligament injury in March during a CONCACAF Nations League game for Canada against the United States
262 days after his injury, Alphonso Davies was confirmed available for FC Bayern in a report by Africasoccer on Monday.
Today, the defender was named in the matchday squad of the German champions for their UEFA Champions League showdown with Sporting CP at Allianz Arena.
Although he missed out on a starting role, the defender had the chance to play in the second half when he was introduced to replace Serge Gnabry in the 88th minute.
On the matchday, goals from Serge Gnabry, Lennart Karl, and Jonathan Tah saw Bayern Munich come from behind to secure a 3-1 win over Sporting Lisbon.
Alphonso Davies will be hoping for more minutes in upcoming matches to get back to his best.
