Ghana international Majeed Ashimeru has been linked with a potential move to Belgium outfit KRC Genk as the winter window approaches.
Ashimeru is expected to bring an end to his five-year spell Anderlecht, having been declared surplus to requirement in the summer.
The highly-rated Ghanaian midfielder was tipped to depart Anderlecht before the commencement of the current campaign, but failed to land a move.
He was then frozen out of the squad, with his only appearance coming at the weekend in the Belgian second-tier league clash between Anderlecht U23 and RWDM Brussels, where both teams settled for a 2-2 draw.
He was introduced into the match in the 63rd minute, marking his first appearance since May 31, 2025, when he featured in the Black Stars’ 4-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago in the Unity Cup third-place game.
As per Belgian Media outlet, SMS News, the Black Stars midfielder is linked with a move to fellow Jupiler Pro League club, KRC Genk ahead of the January window.
The 28-year-old Ghanaian midfielder joined Anderlecht in summer 2021, with his current contract expiring in 2027.
Since joining Anderlecht, Ashimeru has made 129 appearances across competitions, scoring 9 goals and delivering six assists.
