In a remarkable show of community solidarity and healthcare impact, Afrika Nyornu Foundation partnered with Newage Agric Solutions Ltd, the 2024 CIMG Agribusiness Company of the year, to deliver a large-scale Free Community Health Screening for residents across farming communities in the Volta Region.
The outreach, held in collaboration with the Assembly Member and the Queen Mother, Mama Nyuiewaa I, recorded an impressive turnout. A total of 997 adults – mostly farmers – and children received comprehensive medical services—making the event one of the most impactful community health initiatives in the area this year.

Residents travelled from various parts of the Volta Region to access free medical care. Many arrived as early as dawn, eager to take advantage of the screenings and consultations they often cannot afford or access in their communities.
The event provided an extensive range of services including: blood Pressure and Blood Sugar Tests, weight measurement, general medical consultation, breast examination, cervical cancer screening, ultrasound Scans, ENT (Ear, Nose & Throat) Services, Dental and Eye Screening, Skin Disease Treatment, Family Planning Services, Wound Dressing and Free Medications.
Participants also benefitted from expert health talks on Hypertension, Diabetes, Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer, and Family Planning—empowering them with information that can prevent long-term health complications.
Health Is wealth — A mission reflected in collaboration
Speaking to the media after the outreach, the Executive Director of Afrika Nyornu Foundation, Maloe Nartey, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the supporting partners. “We couldn’t have done this without the immense support from Newage Agric Solutions Limited and Indus Life Sciences. These organizations believe that health is wealth, and they always go out of their way to support our community outreaches,” she said.

Real impact on real lives
For many attendees, the outreach was more than a health event—it was a lifeline. A pregnant participant, overcome with relief, shared her testimony: “I’m 6 months pregnant and was asked to take a scan, but I couldn’t afford it. I feel so blessed that it was effortlessly done for me today.” Her story mirrors the experiences of many rural women who face financial barriers in accessing essential maternal care.

A model of community-centered healthcare
The outreach was made possible through the combined efforts of Afrika Nyornu, Newage Agric Solutions Ltd., M&M Medical Centre, Indus Life Sciences, community volunteers, and local leaders. Medicines, medical consumables, and specialist services were provided entirely free of charge. The event aligns with Afrika Nyornu’s mission to improve healthcare access in underserved communities through targeted, high-impact interventions.
This successful initiative serves as a powerful reminder that when organizations and communities unite, meaningful change becomes possible. Afrika Nyornu Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to expanding such interventions, ensuring that no Ghanaian—regardless of location or financial status—is left behind, because truly, health is wealth.
