Four people are in critical conditions after a gas explosion in Krofrom a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
Unconfirmed reports suggest one person has died.
Ultimate FM’s Isaac Justice Bediako reporting from the scene , indicated that the Fire Service Personnel were at hand to put the blaze under control, even though, over 10 cars were burnt in the blaze which occurred Tuesday morning.
It is unclear what sparked the fire but sources suggest the fire started from a mechanic shop nearby and extended to the gas station.
According to the Ashanti Regional Coordinator of National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Kwabena Senkyire, the explosion occurred when workers of Prime Gas were working on an underground tank.
According to him, the explosion started from their main tank which stores and distributes gas to other outlets.
Mr Senkyire, who was at the scene noted that people have sustained injuries, but yet to establish if people have died.
The gas station is situated in a residential area surrounded by schools, churches and a car washing bay.
