The deputy special prosecutor nominee Cynthia Lamptey has stated strongly that she will rather resign than become a mere pushover to her boss Martin A.B.K. Amidu if given the nod.
She made the assertion answering a question thrown at her by parliament’s vetting and appointments committee on Wednesday about what she will do if she were sidelined.
Mr Amidu’s temperament and his ability to work in a cordial relationship with his superiors and subordinates took centre stage in the vetting and subsequent approval of his nomination as Ghana’s first Independent Special Prosecutor.
Mrs Cynthia Lamptey insisted that she was ready to confront Mr Amidu if she felt marginalized.
“If I should face anything of that sort, I will resign because I was not put there just for cosmetic sake. I was put there to work, so if you sideline me I may go to whoever it is to inform him that I have realized that I am not working,” she pointed out.
“Maybe it is an oversight on the side of the person. But if it is true then I will resign because I cannot be a puppet over there,” she added.
Mrs Cynthia Lamptey is coming into the office when given the nod with 29 years of experience as a state prosecutor.
