Parliament has stated that offence of criminality in the case involving some Members of Parliament (MPs) under the erstwhile Mahama administration is yet to be proven.
Parliament implored the Police, MPs and the public to remain calm and circumspect until full facts of the matter are determined.
Parliament pledged to cooperate fully with the law enforcement agencies to bring the matter to a conclusion
‘Parliament wishes to observe that the offence of criminality in this matter is yet to be proven and will therefore like to implore the Police, members of parliament and the general public to remain calm and circumspect until full facts of the matter are determined. Parliament in an effort to enhance transparency and accountability, pledges to cooperate fully with the law enforcement agencies to bring the matter to a conclusion,’ the acting Director of Public Affairs of Parliament Kate Addo in a statement said.
The MPs who served as Ministers are alleged to have collected double salaries whiles in office.
The Majority leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu claimed in order to save the face of Parliament, the minority leader Haruna Iddrisu has secretly spoken to the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to intervene in the matter.
