The Former Communications Minister, Dr. Omane Boamah has chastised the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo following the renaming of the Flagstaff House to Jubilee House.
He wondered why the President would be concentrating on changing the name of the seat of government when he should be naming the factories he promised during the 2016 campaign.
A section of Ghanaians have criticised the President for embarking on such a venture on his 74th birthday which falls today Thursday March 29, 2018.
The President says the Jubilee House is fitting because the seat of government was built to mark Ghana’s Golden Jubilee in 2007.
The logos, letterheads of the Flagstaff House are likely to be changed.
The former President John Agyekum Kufuor in November 2007 reconstructed and inaugurated the Flagstaff House and named it Golden Jubilee House.
The Mills’ administration completed the project which had reached 70%-80% and changed the Jubilee House to its former name Flagstaff House in 2009, but the Mahama administration maintained the name.
The Mills’ administration was heavily criticised for changing the name.
Today, the Akufo-Addo’s government by an executive instrument has changed the name of the seat of the presidency from Flagstaff House to Jubilee House.
