Telecommunication Giant, MTN has supported this year’s Apoo Festival of the Chiefs and People of the Techiman in the Brong Ahafo with an amount of GHC5,000 cedis, assorted drinks and airtime worth GHC500 cedis.
This year’s Apoo Festival is under the theme: “Promoting a culture of tolerance, a key to sustainability and development in a democratic state.”
Presenting the amount and the assorted items, General Manager of MTN Northern Business District, Nii Adotey Mingle noted that MTN would continue to support festivals and would continue to partner traditional leaders and their people to celebrate their festivals.
“As a truly African Multinational, MTN is very much alive to its commitment to supporting our rich African Traditions and Cultures. The Apoo festival can be said to be one of the biggest social gathering that attracts diverse people. MTN wants to commend Nananom for leading developmental projects in the community,” Mr Mingle disclosed.
The Dabehene of the Techiman Traditional Area, Nana Owusu Antwi Bosiako II receiving the items on behalf of the Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV commended MTN for their support over the years.
Nana Bosiako II urged the management of MTN to ensure that scam issues relating to its Mobile Money services are tackled to ensure sanity in the system.
Mobile Money Manager Northern Ghana of MTN, Stephen Asare in a response to the Mobile Money scam said the company is in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service to flush out the people behind the Mobile Money scam.
Mr. Stephen Asare admonished customers of MTN to be on the lookout for the fraudsters.
Mr. Asare also disclosed that new measures have been put in place to ensure that people who wrongly sent money to wrong persons are able to get their monies.
He revealed that under the new system, MTN is able to block the wrong amount sent to someone and the money is sent back to the person who sent the amount.
