The fifty suspects who were arrested in connection with the clash at Ahwiaa in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region have been granted a GH¢ 10,000 bail with two sureties each by Kumasi High Court 4 presided over by Mr. Ekow John Mensah.
The 50 suspects who are standing trial Conspiracy to commit crime and to with rioting with weapons pleaded not guilty to each of the charges.
The Police Prosecutor ACP Okyere Darko told court to adjourn the case saying the police witnesses didn’t not come to court.
Lead Council for the accused persons Lawyer Solomon Oppong Twumasi told the court to grant the accused persons bail due to peace that has prevail in the community.
According to him lawyers for the accused persons and Zongo Minister have taking a step to ensure peace in the Ahwiaa Community.
However the police prosecutor ACP Okyere Darko told the court that the police has not received any complaints about revenge or violence attack after the court remands some of the suspects in the first ruling. ACP Okyere Darko admitted that peace has prevail in the Ahwiaa Community.
He added that the police not opposed the bail application by the lawyers of the accused persons.
Mr Ekow John Mensah granted the suspects bail and they are to report themselves at the Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) office every morning till further notice. They are to reappear on Wednesday April 18, 2018.
