The Minister for Inner Cities & Zongo Development, Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Saddique, has said his ministry will create more jobs to deal with high rate of unemployment in the Zongo communities in Ghana.
According to Alhaji Boniface, the Akufo-Addo’s government is committed to address the challenges affecting Zongo communities like poverty, illiteracy and high rate of unemployment.
Alhaji Boniface speaking to the media when he visited the Ahwiaa community following the recent clash between some Akan youth and Muslims, attributed poverty, illiteracy and high rate of unemployment as the major cause fueling the clashes in the community.
One person was confirmed dead while scores of residents were injured in renewed clashes at Ahwiaa in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region Monday February 19, 2018 afternoon.
Alhaji Boniface charged youth in Zongo Community to maintain peace saying government will address all the challenges affecting Zongo communities.
“I came to Ahwiaa today to meet the leaders and the youth and I have advised them to make sure peace prevail in Ahwiaa Community. Government is committed to develop Zongo communities but there cannot be development without peace. We will create more jobs for youth in Zongos to help solve conflicts in some Zongo communities,” he assured.
The leaders however assured the minister that they will ensure that peace prevails in the Ahwiaa Community.
