The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has vowed to support the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in the ongoing relocation exercise of traders operating in unauthorized places in the Metropolis.
It will be recalled that on Monday November 6, 2017, the KMA embarked on a decongestion exercise with the aim of moving traders and drivers from unauthorized places to racecourse.
Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo who is following the development reported that some traders on the streets of the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi have vehemently resisted attempts to relocate to satellite markets around the metropolis by city authorities.
However, the Public Relations Officer of KMA Godwin Okuma Nyame speaking in an interview with Abusua News disclosed that the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has appreciated the tireless efforts of the KMA to ensure sanity in Kumasi Metropolis.
According to Godwin Okuma Nyame, REGSEC believes the KMA’s good works should be supported to ensure success.
Godwin Okuma Nyame revealed that REGSEC during a recent meeting decided to deploy personnel from the various security services in the city to collaborate with the KMA’s task-force to enhance the relocation exercise, which is a positive venture.
“Recalcitrant traders and transport unions who are still operating from unauthorized places should notice that the assembly will intensify the relocation exercise, effective Monday March 26, 2018.
‘The KMA would therefore like to inform all traders who are selling in the street /pavement to move to Race-Course, Afia Kobi Market, Abinkyi and all the other satellite markets within the Metropolis in other to ensure peace” he said.
He therefore urged traders and transport operators that are operating within the metropolis to comply fully with the directives to help the KMA achieve its aim of making Kumasi a modern city.
