A total of Eighty-Seven (87) meningitis cases have been recorded this year in the Eastern region out of which nine (9) died.
The deceased persons include the 16-year old form two student of Koforidua Secondary Technical School (SECTEC) who died last Friday at the Regional Government Hospital in Koforidua.
This was disclosed by the Eastern Regional Minister Eric Kwakye Darfuor at Anyinam when he addressed participants of the 2018 citizen budget Forum, having held meeting with the officials of the Eastern Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in Koforidua on Tuesday.
According to the Regional Minister, meningitis has not reached epidemic level assuring that everything is under control.
