The Vice Chairperson of the opposition NDC Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu is calling on the Minister of Education Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh to apologise and withdraw for spewing derogatory comments against the former Education Minister Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyeman.
The former Minister of Education said Dr Opoku Prempeh must be seen to be the busiest appointee, not to waste precious time in insulting his Senior in the name of politics.
The current Minister of Education is said to have described his predecessor Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyeman as “a disgrace and an embarrassment” for allegedly leaving debts in the Ministry of Education at the end of her four year tenure.
But in a statement signed by Mrs Mould-Iddrisu, she described Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyeman’s achievements as legendary.
‘Her achievements in the arena of Education are legendary. It is unfortunate that women have to be subjected to such abuse in the discharge of their official duties,’ she stated.
An enraged Mrs Mould-Iddrisu questioned why women are mostly subjected to abuse in the discharge of their official duties.

Press Release :: 16th November, 2017 WITHDRAW AND APOLOGISE
It is unfortunate that our current Minister of Education described his predecessor the Hon former Minister of Education as “a disgrace and an embarrassment” for allegedly leaving debts in the Ministry of Education at the end of her four year tenure.
Professor Opoku-Agyeman is a distinguished and accomplished academic who rose to become vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
Her achievements in the arena of Education are legendary.
It is unfortunate that women have to be subjected to such abuse in the discharge of their official duties.
I am calling on the Hon minister Dr. Opoku Prempeh, on behalf of the women in Ghana, especially Women in Politics to withdraw and apologize for making such derogatory comments about a distinguished woman professional who is a known role model globally.
The Minister must stay focused in ensuring and delivering an effective implementation of the Free SHS programme which has been hit with several challenges with the tendency of eroding gains chalked in the educational sector.
The Minister of Education under the current circumstances must be seen to be the busiest appointee, not to waste precious time in insulting his Senior in the name of politics.
Mrs. Betty Mould-Iddrisu Former Minister of Education.
