President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo says the recent unrest in Karaga and Sissala in the Northern Region by some youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not in any way hinder government’s commitment to ensure that the Rule of Law is respected throughout the country.
It will be recalled that on Tuesday night violence among supporters of the ruling party in Karaga caused the District Chief Executive and the party Youth Organizer who is also the Youth Employment Agency director to flee the area.
Supporters of the Chairman invaded the police station and forcibly removed two of their members who were in custody upon a directive by the DCE.
In Sissala West in the Upper West Region, NPP youth in the area recently besieged the offices of the District Assembly demanding that the District Chief Executive for the area be sacked.
Delivering his speech as the special guest of honour at the Ngmayem Festival of the people of Odumase-Krobo, the President said even though he considers the developments in the two towns in the Northern Regions of the Ghana as disturbing, his administration is poised to stop all forms of vigilantism in the country.
