A seven-member delegation from the Ministry of Health has uncovered fresh seven hundred thousand Ghana cedis fraud evidence at the Tepa Nursing and Midwifery Training College.
The delegation was led by the deputy minister of Health Tina Mensah and Dr. Kwasi Asabre acting director of human resource for health directorate.
This followed a visit by the delegation to the school last week to probe claims of fraud levelled against the Principal Ms. Victoria Amoah and the accountant Asamoah Richard.
The three day-visits to the school by the health ministry according to Ultimate FM’s Isaac Justice Bediako was to ascertain the veracity of the claims reported in the media
But the delegation has uncovered fresh evidence of massive corruption in the school involving the principal and the accountant of the college.
Ultimate FM’s source in the school has confirmed the two could not account for 21 missing vouchers amounting to 7 million Ghana Cedis.
The ministry also retrieved a number of fake used receipts from the school which confirmed the illegality in the government institution.
Ultimate FM’s source in the school disclosed that the principal and the accountant during the health ministry’s interrogation period could not deny any of the allegations.
Deputy health minister Tina Mensah who was shocked about the development in the school after meeting all the administrative staff allegedly described the two as criminals who need no favour from government.
The Principal of the college in the Ahafo Ano North of the Ashanti region have been involved in an alleged massive GH?9, 247,800 admission fraud.
The two administrative members allegedly used fake receipts and invoices to milk the government institution during every admission year.
The alleged corrupt practice began in 2011 two years after the college was established.
A deep throat source within the management of the school and a teaching staff confirmed the corrupt practices of the two administrators with documents to back their claims.
Attempts by the Police to quiz the principal proved futile after Ms. Amoah failed to honour several invitations by the Police after she was allegedly told by health minister Dr Kwaku Agyemang Manu not to show up, source at the health ministry has said.
Meanwhile, the paramount chief of Tepa traditional council, Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem I, who has written petitions to the health ministry over the alleged corruption in the institution has commended the seven-member delegation for picking the matter up.
“I am very happy and satisfied with the steps taken by the deputy minister of health Tina Mensah, this means she is ready to fight corruption in the health training institution and I am with strong belief that the right action will be taken if the two are found culpable,’’ he said.
He also refused to share with Ultimate News what transpired in the meeting between him and the delegation.
“You know I was the former board chairman of the Tepa nursing and midwifery training college I know more than you know, however, I am not ready to say anything but I have given all the needed information I know about the school concerning the alleged corrupt practice,’’ he added.
