Captain of Ghana national team Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan has stated that there is nothing wrong in consulting Mallams to aid one’s career, revealing that he consults Mallams and Pastors before hitting every pitch.
He described football as a spiritual work which demands spiritual exercise adding that he has never played any match without spiritual consultation.
Asamoah Gyan made the revelation during an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso alias ‘Delay’ on GhOne Television justifying that Mallams are just like pastors.
‘Anybody who would claim football is not a spiritual work would be lying to you, definitely you need spiritual fortification because football is a spiritual work. Its impossible to play football without any spiritual prayers. Of course I have a spiritual father who prays for me, its not only football, but before one will succeed, he/she needs spiritual backing. Mallams lead Muslim prayers and pastors also lead Christian prayers. I don’t know why people demonise Mallams, there is nothing wrong consulting Mallams,’ he disclosed.
There has always been public debate that sportsmen across the world use voodoo.
