A Health Expert Dr. Frank Bonsu is urging authorities at the Aggrey Memorial Zion Senior High School (SHS) in the Central region to cut down on their admissions if they want to successfully deal with the bedbug menace on their campus.
He explained that the insects fester well at places which are highly concentrated and that the huge numbers at the school will make it difficult to fight it entirely.
Speaking to Ultimate News’ Central regional correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour after visiting the campus, Dr. Bonsu who is also the Coordinating Director for the National Tuberculosis Control Programme indicated that bedbugs are difficult to fight everywhere and until the authorities at the school take drastic measures, more students will be attacked by the insects.
Such affected students, he explained will not be able to go about their studies effectively hence taking strong measures to prevent the health implications that comes with the disease by reducing student intake especially when the over 1,000 students are all boarders.
Authorities at the school have been grappling with bedbugs invasion for the past years without success culminating in a call by the headmaster Rev. Franklin Buadu to health experts and other well meaning Ghanaians to come to their aid.
