Ultimate FM’s up and coming Journalist Theresa Oppong, has stated that she is working assiduously to grab the next topmost award of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reporting awards to be organised by Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) in collaboration with United Nations (UN).
Theresa was shortlisted among six (6) journalists for reporting on SDGs.
Theresa who received a certificate of recognition said her goal is to continue her reportage on human interest stories, with the SDGs in focus.
In an interview with ultimatefmonline.com after receiving her certificate on Monday October 24, 2016 in Accra, she indicated that she is not going to be complacent but will work hard.
Theresa Oppong’s project was on maternal and neonatal mortality with specific attention on pregnancy stress outside the healthcare system, a project she dubbed “Stress induced maternal mortality: the leaking bucket syndrome”.
‘I want to be a Development Journalist by writing in depth stories to effect lives and cause change in society, it was an eye opener and encouraging experience for me,’ she expressed the hope.
Other journalists shortlisted for the award included, Bubu Klinogo (GBC Radio, Accra), Umaru Sanda Amadu –(Citi fm Accra), Michael Mfum Sarpong (Starr FM correspondent – Sunyani), Abdul Hameed Amponsah (Radio Peace, Winneba) and Nina Abena Antwi-Kusi (TV3 Network Limited).
The overall winner Abdul Hameed Amponsah of Radio Peace, (Winneba) received a plaque, a citation and a cash prize of GHC6,000.
Umaru Sanda Amadu of Accra-based Citi FM who was the first runner-up took home GHC3,000 and TV3 Network Limited’s Nina Abena Antwi-Kusi was the third and received GHC2,000.
The other nominees were each presented with certificates of merit.
