The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman Kwaku Asomah-Kyeremeh, has thrown a challenge to the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) to explain to Ghanaians the source of funding used in settling payments of affected DKM customers in the region.
He questioned if the President owns the defunct DKM, asking why they are settling only DKM payments when there are other micro financial institutions which have equally ‘swindled’ people of their monies.
Mr Kyeremeh said DKM money was frozen by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) when customers of DKM complained of their monies been ‘swindled’.
DKM, God is Love, Jasta Motors and other micro financial institutions ‘duped’ unsuspecting customers of their monies some months ago.
Mr Kyeremeh further questioned if the money used in settling the affected customers is not the same money frozen by government in the accounts of the defunct Ponzi organization .
Speaking on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, he said the appointment of the liquidator has been declared by a High court in the Northern region as ‘null and void’.
‘There is no liquidator, the status of the liquidator Madam Jemima Oware is been questioned at the High Court in the North, her appointment has been declared null and void. How come Mahama is settling the debt of only DKM customers, who owns DKM, does he own DKM, I am throwing a challenge to Mahama to tell us the source of the money, where is the money coming from. The Bank of Ghana (BoG) took all monies of DKM. So does it mean that the monies used in settling payments now is the same monies frozen by BoG, were they working for Mahama and the NDC,’ he asked.
He accused the Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and NDC gurus of testing the waters when they visited the region, fearing of losing miserably in the region because the affected customers were infuriated by the mode of payments by the liquidator.
The NPP Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman said indigenes in the area have lost hope in the government for mismanaging the economy and have vowed to vote against them during December polls.
He said the NPP is not moved by their campaign tours in the Northern region and that they are only tickling themselves of winning in the region.
‘It’s been a year now when Julius Debrah deceived customers of DKM by promising to see to it that their monies were paid within a two-week period in Nkoranza when the issue came up but failed to deliver on his promise. Why are they are now settling the payments? What has changed. The affected customers are even infuriated about the payment, how can you say you will pay 20% across board, after wasting their time in queuing for hours. Julius and Ahwoi came to the region to spy to see how the people perceive the loot and share NDC government.
