There have been sporadic gunshots following the siting of the capital for the yet to be created Yunyoo District.
The Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC), has tightened security in the Yunyoo enclave of the Bunkprugu/Yunyoo district.
There were sporadic gunshots following the siting of the capital for the yet to be created Yunyoo District.
Some residents would want Yunyoo to be made the district capital, but others disagree, saying that Namong, the birthplace of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu should be made the capital.
This has led to some tension in the area, with the security moving in to restore law and order.

The REGSEC Chairman, Salifu Saeed in an interview with Accra-based Citi FM urged residents of the area to be patient and cooperate with the government to decouple Yunyoo from the Bunkprugu/Yunyoo district.
It will be recalled that the president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his recent tour of the Northern Region said his administration intends creating additional two districts, namely Nantong and Yunyoo.
