This dancer's video shows beauty isn't specific to one body type.
In an Instagram post, freelance makeup artist Brandi Mallory celebrates her "jiggle," dancing to an accelerated reboot of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" at an event in St. Louis, Missouri.
"When you appreciate it all...even the jiggle, bc that was once solid FAT!" Brandi wrote. "I was, 'Heavy...real Heavy'! 'Light on my toes', has always been my descriptive....oh but now! Now...proud of myself is an understatement. I can't think of any other word in the English dictionary to describe how I feel about my life."
As a contestant on ABC's Extreme Weight Loss in 2014, Brandi dropped over 150 pounds in a single year; now, as an instructor with Dance Your Pounds Off, a workout program designed by celebrity fitness instructor Dwayne Holt, she shows other people how to get fit. "YOU. ARE. A-MAZ-ING!!!!!!!" one user wrote.
"CAN'T STOP WATCHING AHHHHH SLAY," another said.
While popular culture is beginning to elevate a broader definition of beauty, examples of everyday women killin' it are always welcome reminders that you don't have to be a size 2 to be proud of your body. Take the iridescent ladies of photographer Jill Kerswill's Positively Glittered photo shoot, or model Iskra Lawrence's consistent celebration of her un-retouched figure to show young women that what you see on magazine covers isn't real life. More of this, please.
