

Ghana’s women’s 4x100m relay team recorded their season’s best of 43.68s in Heat 1 of the women’s race as they narrowly missed out on a spot in the finals.
The fastest women’s quartet in Africa which includes Flings Owusu Agyapong, Gemma Acheampong, Akua Obeng-Akrofi, Janet Amponsah ended up with the 5th fastest time ever-ran by a Ghanaian team behind their own national records in 2016 of 42.67s.
Ghana’s women relay team placed sixth in Heat 1 of the women’s 200m with the likes of United States, Great Britain and Switzerland placing first, second and third positions respectively.
None of Ghana’s athletes at this year’s championship were able to progress to the next round of their respective competition despite high hopes going into the championship.
