The accident occurred when the fuel tanker hit the back of the bus, which was swerving a pothole on the road between Assin Dansame and Assin Brasiako.
A diesel tanker went up in flames Wednesday morning when it hit the back of a loaded Metro Mass Transit bus on the Assin Fosu-Kumasi highway in the Central Region, injuring one person.
Eyewitnesses said that the accident occurred around 9.30 am when the fuel tanker hit the back of the bus, which was swerving a pothole on the road between Assin Dansame and Assin Brasiako.
The tanker caught fire some few minutes later after the incident.

The bus was travelling from Swedru to Kumasi when the accident occurred.
Passengers on the bus, as well as, the driver of the tanker escaped unhurt. However, the tanker driver’s assistant suffered serious injuries and has been sent to a hospital at Assin Fosu for treatment.
Personnel from the Fire Service together with the Police were at the scene to restore order.
