Also one spot kick that Ghanaians are probably yet to forgive Gyan for missing is the one he missed in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

He took a decision not to take spot kicks for the Black Stars again and had since stood to his grounds until the Saturday friendly game against U.S.
US had taken the lead earlier before the penalty call. The Yankees doubled their lead in the second half, before Asamoah Gyan scored a world class free kick to redeem his image. The gama ended 2-1 in favour of the host, USA.
