Only Didier Drogba and Samuel Eto’o have a better stat than Gyan in international football
Asamoah Gyan on Sunday became the third African to record 50 goals in international football.
The Ahli striker nodded home a cross from Thomas Agyapong as Ghana walloped Ethiopia on Sunday in their opening 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi.
Gyan’s goal has made him the third African to score 50 or more international goals after Didier Drogba of Ivory Coast and Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon.

Drogba, with 65 goals scored more in international football than any other African, which is followed by Samul Eto’o Fils who scored 54 goals in national team football.
With both players having retired from international football Gyan has the chance to beat that record and set a new African record.
The former Sunderland marksman in 2014 became African greatest scorer in FIFA World Cup when he scored his sixth (6) goal against Portugal to surpass Roger Milla’s five (5) goal tally.
