Two alleged armed robbers behind the stealing of a Picanto taxi with registration number GE 4O77-16 were arrested during a police identification parade of criminals at the Adentan Police Station.
The police gave the names of the armed robbers as Bright Amuzu, 27, a pupil teacher residing at Juapong and Prosper Owusu, 24 a mason.
Briefing journalists, the Adenta District Police Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Kofi Odame said, on March 23, the taxi driver who was incharge of the cab said he was hired from Tetteh Quarshie Interchange towards Adenta old barrier.
On reaching Madina Zongo Junction, the complainant on the directive of the passenger, picked the accused persons he claimed were his friends.
When the driver got to the Adenta Barrier, the suspects directed him to a spot around the Pantang junction, where they inflicted machete and knife wounds on him robbed him of the his vehicle and sped off.
DSP Odame said the wounded taxi driver was assisted by a sympathetic colleague and sent him to hospital for treatment.
He said the identification parade was organised on April 14 where the two suspects were identified and picked for questioning.
