A group, the United Cadres Front of Ghana (UCF) Wednesday called on the security agencies to arrest Daniel Bugri Naabu, the Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic party (NPP), Rockson Bukari, the Upper East Regional Minister, and the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba.
But in a statement by signed by Camillus Sakseezi on behalf of the UCF said, “The UCF-Ghana, however, wish to state that the issue is springing out of an already criminal trial which is ongoing. And for this reason the investigative apparatus of the Ghana Police Service must take over this new development and let the world know what occasioned the murder of our time.
The Ghana Police Service as a statutory institution in-charge of criminal investigation must exact its mandatory role by delving further into this serious allegation coming from no less a person, but an influential Regional Chairman of the ruling NPP.”
The exchanges among northern members of the party the group says has the potential of creating fear and panic in the country if the security agencies failed to pick them up for further interrogation.
“The United Cadres Front of Ghana believes that, Ghana must live above such issues which, more often than not, are taken as political.
Unfortunately, they seriously undermine the justice system of the country. They also have the potential of creating fear and panic among especially the people of the north, and undermine the peace and security of the entire country.
In fact, in a civilized jurisdiction, those mentioned would have been picked up by now, without parochial partisan considerations, the statement further said.
Bugri Naabu early this month disrupted a meeting organized by Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister with some women groups in the Northern Region over what he describes as not being consulted by the minister before holding a meeting in the region.
Otiko Djaba accused him (Naabu) of collecting bribes from some women in the region in an attempt to offer contracts to them under the Ghana School Feeding Programme.
He subsequently accused Otiko Djaba and Bukari of having knowledge in the murder of the NPP Upper East Regional Chairman.
The accusation led to exchanges between the three members of the ruling party with threats of legal action against Naabu by Rockson Bukari if the former did not withdraw the comments.
The Gender minister, in a meeting with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House on Tuesday apologized to the president and the people of Ghana over the incident. Enditem
