Solomon Baba Akumba, a level 300 student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has emerged the winner of season 2 of the Malta Guinness Maltavator challenge following the finals on Saturday at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra.
Akumba beat 39 other very strong contestants to clinch the ultimate prize of GH¢5,000.
Samuel Osei Mensah was second and got GH¢3,000, while Emmanuel Gyeta placed third to take home GH¢2,000.
Daniel Abotsi Richard Kuevorve, Precious Appiah were rewarded with GH¢1,000 each for finishing fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Forty competitors recruited from Accra, Takoradi, Kumasi and Tamale took part in the showdown at the national finale of the Malta Guinness Maltavator Challenge Season 2.
The six will represent Ghana at the Pan African Championship in South Africa in February.
Ghana’s six representatives will compete against other competitors from Nigeria, Cameroun, Kenya, Ethiopia and Cote D’Ivoire for the ultimate $20,000 prize money.
Last year, two Ghanaians picked up the 1st and 2nd runner-up positions in the Pan-African championship which was won by Ethiopia’s Keariam Abera.
The Brand Manager of Malta Guinness, Roland Ofori expressed his joy about the passion and competitiveness of the competition which many Ghanaians across all 10 regions have come to love. He was sure the Ghanaians will shine in South Africa.
