Member of Parliament for Yunyoo constituency in the Northern region does not have his name on the John Mahama endorsement list, Rockson Dafeamekpor has stated.
The South Dayi MP said his colleague Joseph Bipoba Naabu was not on the list of MPs who endorsed the former president and found it strange the Yunyoo MP is crying foul and creating the impression as if his name was on the list.
If anything, he said, Bipoba Naabu, may have signed another document and not the one collating signatures in support of former President, Mahama as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for the 2020 general elections.
Mr Dafeamekpor was reacting to Mr Naabu who said the organisers of the MPs4JM campaign used subterfuge means to get him to endorse Mahama for 2020 elections.

“JM boys perpetuated fraud on me…I was very furious because they deceived me into signing something I don’t believe in. I have endorsed Alban Bagbin and I believe he is the right person to lead the NDC in 2020,” Mr Naabu told Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM Tuesday.
He explained that when the list was being passed on the floor of the House he thought it was for attendance and not a Mahama endorsement list.
He said later on the former Deputy Energy Minister, John Jinapor and others came to his office and told him the paper he signed was to endorse JM.
But speaking to the AM Show on the Joy News channel on Multi TV Wednesday, Rockson Dafeamekpor stated unequivocally that the Yunyoo MP’s name is not on the endorsement list.

“His name is not on that list, I know the list and I have seen the list. We hold our meetings and Naabu is not one of us,” he told the host, Kojo Yankson.
He added that the list was well vetted to make sure those who had attended previous meetings but would not want their names to go out publicly as endorsing Mr Mahama to withdraw to do so.
“…so Naabu’s name is not on the list,” he reiterated. “I am sure he decided to speak publicly because he thought that the numbers are enormous,” he said.
Mahama’s candidature
Rockson Dafeamekpor also stated that there is no controversy about whether or not John Mahama will contest NDC flagbearership.
Although there has been no crystal declaration from the camp of the former President, various statements he has made suggest that he intends to contest.
Mr Dafeamekpor said on the show that “Mahama will contest the flagbearership”. He added that there has been no official communique because Mahama is respecting the structures of the party for all the party elections and reorganization to be completed before he declares.

Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon who was also on the show argued that the opposition MPs are just planning to shove off other candidates who want to contest the former President.
“It’s just a strategy to tell everybody that don’t dare,” he said.
Mr Dafeamekpor however disagreed; saying that the MPs do not want the party “to waste resources” because constitutionally, Mahama has the chance to contest another term of office.
