The youth of Ghana have been challenged to discover and develop their talents at the Accra Youth Summit.
The 2018 edition of the Accra Youth Summit, the sixth of its kind, was held on March 24 at the Christ The King Hall, opposite the Flagstaff House. It was held under the auspices of Buabeng Communications and its founder and CEO, Jeremiah Buabeng.
In the past 12 years, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, and author Jeremiah Buabeng have been committed to the development of the youth of Ghana through the deployment of human capital development interventions such as the Accra Youth Summit.
This year’s edition was under the theme “The Power of Talent; Leveraging Your Talent for Economic Advantage” with the focus to empower the youth to unravel their talents, develop and package them for financial profit and social impact.
The content of the event was designed in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event was supported by UNDP, AFB, Databank, and Joy 99.7 FM.
The summit had 3 main sessions. It had plenary sessions that featured keynote speakers, namely; Jeremiah Buabeng (Summit Host), Samuel Agyemang-Prempeh (Founder, Wear Purple), Chief Moomen (Playwright & Poet), Kafui Adzah (Founder, Cookhouse) and medical doctor and speaker Isaac Newman-Arthur.
The second key session of the event was a panel discussion that was hosted by the Summit Host, Jeremiah Buabeng.
The third session of the summit was 10 simultaneous breakout sessions that focused on unique talent or skill areas such as Writing, Art, Technology, Craftsmanship, Motivational Speaking, Public Speaking, Fashion etc.
These three main sessions were interspersed with musical performances, spoken word presentations and choreography.
The summit was attended by youth and students from the following institutions, namely Accra Technical University, University of Ghana, Central University, University of Professional Studies, Accra Ghana Technology University, African University College of Communications, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and the International Central Gospel Church.
This year’s summit has significantly impacted an estimated five hundred youth and students from across the city of Accra directly including over 40 students from the Technical Vocational and Educational Training Institute in Biriwa, near Cape Coast, in the Central Region.
With the major highlight of the summit broadcasted on Joy 99.7 FM, the summit was able to reach thousands of people all over Ghana.
