The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) has suspended its indefinite strike.
The strike was to push the government to pay salary arrears of its members.
The arrears dating back to 2013 include five-year salary adjustments and promotions.
President of NAGRAT, Angel Carbonu, told Joy News government has committed to pay the arrears of 10,000 teachers by the end of this month.
"We've agreed that by the end of April, a process is made for the payment of 10,000...we are ready to work with this for now," said Mr Carbonu.
Arrears
The arrears comprise:
- Vehicle maintenance allowances
- Transfer grants
- Transport and travel allowances
- Salary arrears of GES new recruits
NAGRAT in January this year put on hold a planned strike following entreaties by the government.
It, however, returned to the matter in early February with the ultimatum to advise itself if the issues are not addressed positively at the end of March.
