Embattled Liberty Professionals will welcome Medeama SC to the Carl Reindorf Park in a Ghana Premier League matchday four clash.
The Scientific Soccer Lads face a defining moment early in the season with relegation staring them in the face following two previous disappointing outings.
The Dansoman-based side is the only team in the GPL that is yet to pick up a single point and currently lie at the bottom of the table.
Indeed, many have tipped the home side to get relegated this season, with the club having been among the struggling pack in each of the last four consecutive seasons.
And, Liberty’s case could not have been worse as they face the daunting task of getting one over an in-form Medeama side.
The Mauves and Yellows are buoyed by their huge 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko at the T&A Park in mid-week and will be looking to build on that result.
The win over the Porcupine Warriors catapulted the Tarkwah-based side to fifth on the league table – four goals shy of fourth-placed Inter Allies and just a point below second-placed WAFA.
Sunday’s game between Liberty and Medeama is expected to produce a lot of goals due to the open styles of both clubs.
The last two games between both teams produced eight goals, and the upcoming game is very much expected to follow the same pattern.
Medeama may be the in-form side, however, the Tarkwah-based side have often struggled when playing against Liberty.
Last season the Scientific Soccer Lads recorded a double over their opponents and should be aiming to extend that winning run.
A win for Liberty will spur the side out of the relegation zone, but a loss will definitely mean that the Dansoman-based side is approaching a crisis.
For Medeama, though, their top four hopes are very much alive and avoiding a loss would be a very good result.
