Police in the Ashanti Region are investigating the alleged stealing of ¢320,000 from the bank account of the St. Michael Midwifery Training College at Pramso in the Bosomtwe District.
The police say they will not leave any stone unturned to find the perpetrators.
Sources close to the school authorities say the withdrawal of the amount from the Ahensan branch of the Ghana Commercial Bank was detected days after the theft.
Luv News’ Erastus Asare Donkor reported that checks indicated a possible collusion between some staff of the College and the GCB Bank.
An intern, Gloria Osei who worked briefly at the accounts office of the midwifery College is being sought by the police to help with investigations.
Police say she is the principal suspect being sought to explain how some pages got missing from the College’s chequebook.
The College has insisted it had no role in the issuing of the cheque used to cash the amount after it discovered the theft on October 27.
Meanwhile, the Bank Manager of the GCB-Bank, Ahensan branch, has declined comment, saying the police are working on the matter.
Joy News' sources close to the GCB-Bank branch have disclosed the bank has agreed to refund the money, blaming the incident on its negligence.
The bank is reported to have communicated to the school Friday it will refund the money in batches by providing funds for the College's supplies on each purchase until it finishes paying.
