The North American chapter of Old Vandals Association (OVA-NA) has added its voice to the University of Ghana (UG) alumni in its calls for the University's growth in enrollment to be directed towards areas beneficial to developmental priorities.
It also wants the country’s premier university to equip graduates with the requisite skills that would make them immediately employable upon graduation.

OVA-NA made these resolutions among other things at it reunion at Laurel, Maryland in the United States of America over the weekend.

The Association further charged that UG would strive to be more relevant to national and Africa's development.

They envisaged the university to be a place of big ideas that would drive development while exemplifying institutional stability, integrity and patriotism, fuelled by vandalism that would always move Ghana upwards and forwards, ever closer to the vision of our founders.
The reunion was under the Council of Old Chief Vandals(North America) and some of the activities involved Vandals Special Night, Vandals Congress and Question & Answer session with University of Ghana officers.

There was also a Legon Alumni Congress as well as a Fundraising Dinner/Dance and Vandal picnic.
Some issues that took centre included the State of affairs in Commonwealth Hall, with emphasis on discipline, security, infrastructure and its relation to the larger university community.

There was also a discussion on the growth of the University to a current population of about 40000 students and its status as the best University in West Africa, ranked 7th in Africa.
OVA-NA further discussed the vision of UG and the role the Alumni across the globe can play in it as well as the role of Ghanaian universities in national development.

Some of the resolutions were that violence and criminality have no place in Vandalism and the condemnation of such acts while urging the UG authorities to prioritize campus security through increased technology and security personnel.

The group lauded the undoubted value of Vandalism to the University community and Ghana through a commitment to increasing the number of students assigned to Commonwealth Hall in the future.
