THE management of Volta Serene Hotel in Ho has procured a GH¢25,000 double-decker photo-therapy unit for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Volta Regional Hospital, Ho.
The facility is used to cater for babies born with neonatal jaundice which may lead to cerebral palsy and can cause damage to the brain.
Presenting the machine to the unit, Mr S. D. Armah, General Manager of Volta Serene Hotel, said that the gesture was in line with the hotel’s commitment to the welfare of the society in general.
“The babies we have today are our future and so we must look after them with great care and affection.
Apart from that, we also want to minimise the incidence of mothers losing their babies,” Armah said.
He pledged that Volta Serene Hotel would continue to support the hospital in various ways to deliver quality healthcare to the people.
Receiving the item, Dr Lord Mensah, Head of the Pediatric Department of the Volta Regional Hospital, thanked the hotel for the donation, which he said would contribute immensely to service delivery at the NICU.
Dr Mensah said that the unit had a 20-bed capacity and appealed to other public spirited organisations to support them in a similar manner.
