THE seven-member committee appointed by the Volta Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to probe into the recent exchange of gun fire between some irate men at Alavanyo-Dzogbedze and a platoon of military personnel has presented its report to the Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa.
The incident led to the death of two men from the community while one soldier sustained bullet wounds in his foot.
The report was handed over to the Regional Minister at the Residency by the chairman of the committee, Major Edward Sarpong Appiah, who is also the Commander Rear of the 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho.
The content of the report was not immediately disclosed, but Major Appiah said that it contained “key findings and peace recommendations.”
He thanked the REGSEC for the trust reposed in the committee and assigning it the task.
The Regional Minister commended the committee for taking up the duty assigned it with great zeal and enthusiasm.
He gave assurance that anyone found culpable in the report would not be spared the rod, adding that “REGSEC will deal swiftly with them at the regional and national levels”.
Agencies represented on the committee included the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and the Regional Peace Council.
