Akumba displays his prize
Solomon Baba Akumba has won the 2018/19 Malta Guinness Maltavator Challenge Season II which came off on Saturday at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra.
The level 300 student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) stood tall among 40 finalists to complete three rounds of a difficult obstacle course competition to claim the GH?5000 cash prize at stake.
He would also represent Ghana at the Pan-African Maltavator Championship scheduled for February 24 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
He will be joined by five others to compete in the Johannesburg tourney.
They include Samuel Osei Mensah and Emmanuel Gyeta who completed the course in second and third places respectively.
The top six was completed by Daniel Abotsi, Richard Kuevorve and Precious Appiah.
Some of the course obstacles included a weave run through cones, high-knee runs through tyres, scrambler or low crawls, hurdles, human maze, tire flips, balance run on a log, archery, monkey bars and box jumps.
The Brands Manager of Malta Guinness, Mr. Roland Ofori said he was hopeful that the winner of the Pan-African Maltavator Challenge will emerge from the six finalists.
