MEMBERS of the North America branch of Past OLA Girls Association (POGA) have contributed US$ 5000 towards the refurbishment of the chemistry laboratory of their alma mater.
The cheque for the amount was presented to headmistress of the OLA SHS, Ho, Madam Regina Coffie by the President of POGA North America, Mrs Pauline Simmons at a short ceremony at the school on Monday.
Mrs Simmons said that the gesture was in line with the association’s commitment to supporting teaching and learning at the school with the appropriate resources, at all times.
On her part, the headmistress thanked POGA North America for the timely gesture, saying it would definitely help immensely to boost chemistry practical lessons on campus.
Madam Coffie urged other POGA branches to support the school in similar ways to put its facilities in good shape.
She said that with an enrolment of more than 2,200 students, there was excessive pressure on the laboratory, hence the need for the refurbishment.
The refurbishment project which is being undertaken at a cost of GH¢ 46, 744.50 will be completed in March 2019.
The chief executive officer of Sky Consultancy and Service Limited, a local construction firm, Mr Mathew Dogbey, said that the job was progressing smoothly and gave the assurance that it would be completed as scheduled.
