Rev. Dr Adu Gyamfi receiving a bible as a symbol of office
THE Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC) on Thursday inducted Rev. Dr Ernest Adu Gyamfi for a second term as the Executive President of the church in Accra yesterday.
The GBC also inducted Rev. Enoch Thompson as the Vice President in charge of Ministries as well as an 11-member denominational board to advise the executive president on his mandate.
Giving his sermon on the theme “Serving to please the master,” the former vice president of GBC, Rev Dr. Nii Amoo-Darku said it was important for the new executives to “walk in the direction of God.”
He said Christianity was not about following the crowd but rather doing the will of God and being focused on one’s mandate.
Rev. Amoo-Darku said God had chosen to partner human beings to achieve his purpose on earth, and that it was necessary to please God as partners in his work, adding “You need to find God’s intent and purpose in order to keep pace in His ways,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, Rev. Adu Gyamfi said attention would be given to the next generation of leaders for the convention in order for them to take over from the current generation of leaders.
“I will like to encourage those between the ages of 25 to 40 years to make themselves available for training, mentorship and couching to prepare them for the leadership of the church,” he explained.
He said in January next year, the church would introduce the Emerging Leaders Training Institute, as well as an online academic programme with United States of America (USA) based Success Training Institute to provide professional training for members of the church.
Rev. Dr Adu Gyamfi thanked the church for the support and urged members to continue to support his administration for the next four years.
