The Kwesimintsim Police in the Western Region last Wednesday arrested Daniel Alazor, unemployed, for robbing a shop at Bankyease in the Effia Kuma municipality.
The suspect, according to the police, together with another one, went into a shop in broad daylight and robbed the attendants of valuables including unspecified amount of money and mobile phones, but, luck eluded them and Alazor was arrested.
Alazor is currently in police custody assisting in investigations.
Briefing the Ghanaian Times, the Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, said, at 1pm on Wednesday, Brightina Success Adzebeye and Kenneth Afful, assisted by two policemen, arrested and brought Daniel Alazor to the Kwesiminstim police station.
She said, the complainants reported that at about 12pm while they were in their shop at Bankyease, near the taxi rank, Alazor and another suspect, now at large came to buy a mobile phone charger.
ASP Adiku narrated that suddenly the two suspects pulled pistols on them and ordered that they should hand over all money, credit cards and mobile phones in the shop to them and bolted with the items.
The alarm was raised and the suspects were given a chase during which Alazor was arrested with a locally manufactured pistol in his pocket, but his accomplice managed to escape with the complainant’s mobile phone, she told the Ghanaian Times.
“We are still making the efforts to get the other suspect, who is on the run, to assist us in our investigations,” the PRO added.
