The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New patriotic Party (NPP), Divine Otoo Agorhom has urged party members to work vigorously to win the Amasaman seat in 2020.
He was optimistic that the seat and others across the country would be snatched from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2020, through the effort of the executives, youth and party members at the constituency level.
Mr Agorhom made the appeal during the sod-cutting of the new ultra-modern party office for the NPP Amasaman constituency at the weekend.
“To win this seat, we will need the support of every party member in the constituency.”
“Permit me to appeal to the party faithful to desist from the “Yen hu hwee” and “oman yi mu aye den” mantra promulgated by our opponents, he said in an interview.
He said on assumption of power by the NPP administration, free Senior High School had been introduced, nurses and teacher training allowances had been restored, health insurance had improved, school feeding had been expanded and the caterers are been promptly paid.
He added that, Nation Builders Corps had been introduced; one district-one factory is ongoing, rail sector is being developed among many other interventions.
Akwasi Afrifa-Mensah, the Project Committee chairman said the construction of the new ultra-modern edifice, would serve as offices of the NPP Amasaman constituency.
This project has been on the drawing board for so many years and I am happy to pledge that by 2022 the project would be completed, he said.
He said party members should not fall prey to the plans and deceit of the NDC.
Mr Afrifa-Mensa appealed to President Nana Akufo-Addo and his appointees to expedite action in their effort to develop the country.
He assured members of the party that the NPP was well prepared and focused to win the Amasaman seat come the 2020 general election.
Mr Afrifa-Mensa indicated that the edifice would serve as offices of the constituency chairman, secretary, organizer, Member of Parliament, Municipal Chief Executive, conference hall also serve as a recreational centre for the youth of the party.
“We have not engaged the services of any particular contractor for this project, we have many of our members who are carpenters, electricians, construction engineers, plumbers, labourers and we have resolved to engage their service he stated.
Mr Clement Nii Lamptey Wilkinson, the Ga West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), commended the executives for the hard work done and urged party members to remain united since that would help the party win the Amasaman seat in 2020 and appealed to party members to support the project.
Speaking with the GNA, Mr Mike Ofori Asante, the Constituency chairman, stated that, they do not have funding for the project; however they would build the office through the contribution of individual members and groups within the party.
Mr Asante said there would be a fundraising dinner during the Christmas season to raise funds for the project and to appeal to party contractors to donate to this noble course.
