An open day for the public to engage researchers of the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) and observe at firsthand research facilities of the institute is scheduled for November 26 this year.
A statement issued by the Office of the Director of NMIMR in Accra yesterday said the event forms part of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the institute, which is a constituent of the College of Health Sciences of the University of Ghana.
It would follow the launch of a year-long celebration of its achievement at the institute’s main research building on the University of Ghana campus.
The statement stated that the year-long celebration would be on the theme “Noguchi @ 40: Sustaining global health gains through partnerships in biomedical research.”
It said the theme was in line with the institute’s and the University of Ghana’s aim of becoming a world class research institution through building and maintaining strong partnerships with all stakeholders and beneficiaries including the public.
The statement said the Open Day was to allow the public to know more about the work that was done at the NMIMR and its relevance to the health of the nation.
