A driver died on the spot in a road crash at Aboade on the Takoradi-Agona Nkwanta highway in the Ahanta West municipality of the Western Region Tuesday afternoon.
Francis Fynn, 23, a Kia truck driver, died on the spot when his vehicle collided with a Man Diesel truck, which had earlier offloaded manganese at the Takoradi port.
The body has been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital awaiting postmortem.
Meanwhile, the injured, Kia truck driver’s mates, Christopher Mensah, 18, Frank Cobbinah, 19, driver of Man Diesel truck – Isaac Toffer, 38 and driver’s mate, Vincent Hoomey, 22, are on admission at the Agona Nkwanta Health Centre responding to treatment.
The Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, confirmed the incident to the Ghanaian Times.
He said the KIA truck, driven by Fynn, loaded with logs, was moving from Agona Nkwanta towards Takoradi whilst the Man Diesel truck driven by Toffer was returning from Takoradi after offloading manganese at the Takoradi Port.
On reaching the Aboade section of the Takoradi-Agona Nkwanta highway, Fynn, overtook an articulated truck, but, lost control of the steering wheel and crashed into the side of the MAN Diesel truck.
“Fynn died on the spot while the four got injured,” she said
DSP Adiku said the Regional MTTU had towed the mangled vehicles off the road, and traffic had been restored.
