The Yendi Municipal Assembly in the Northern Region has approved its 2019 composite budget for 2019 financial year.
All 16 projects have been completed under the District Development Fund (DDF) and the Internally Generated Fund (IGF) is expected to generate GH¢980,000.00.
The executive committee of the assembly approved the budget at an executive committee meeting in Yendi where all the 43 assembly members made up of 30 and 13 government appointees of the assembly approved the budget.
In his sessional address, Alhaji Hammed Yussuf, Yendi Municipal Chief Executive, disclosed that the assembly had completed the construction of a-three unit classroom block, rehabilitation of a water and sanitation facility at Faisalia Junior High School, reshaping of 3.83km road from Galbang to Sankuni, construction of a three-unit classroom block and construction of a water and sanitation facility at Yendi Jubilee Kindergarten and construction of a semi-detached bungalow for doctors of Yendi Municipal Hospital in Yendi.
He said for the assembly is expected to receive a total of GH¢4,500.00, per month over 12 months with GH¢54,000.00 as commission for casual workers of the assembly to support their families.
“800 youth have gained employment at the Forestry Commission and the Member of Parliament for Yendi constituency Alhaji Mohammed Tijani has also donated a Mahindra Bolero pick-up to the Education Service in Yendi to support officials in their monitoring”.
“2222 farmers have been provided with seedlings and fertiliser coupons under the Planting for Food and Jobs programme while 525 graduates are posted for the seven modules under the Nation Builders Corps.
Abu Zolge, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, said the finances of the assembly were bad but pragmatic measures improved hence the completion of projects and appealed to assembly members to be innovative in revenue generation to block leakages and improve water and sanitation facilities. -GNA
