Mr Karbo
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Lawra in the Upper West Region, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo has urged for more investment in people as it is ‘brains and not brawns which build a nation.’
While praising the President for introducing flagship programmes to ameliorate the plight of constituents, he urged them to also, within their own might and means, invest in their people.
Mr Karbo, who is the Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, was speaking on the sidelines of a gathering of the Chiefs and people of Lawra during the town’s 42nd Kobine Festival.
“Free SHS will undoubtedly count among the biggest investment we have made in our human resource for a long time, but, if there is more we can do, within our own means, then I urge that we do it.
“We must invest in our people if our communities are to be built and sustained, we must invest in our people if the opportunities we envisage to create can be of benefit to our own people.
“The government has made massive investment in education, water and sanitation, health and employment and will not relent to initiate more policies and programmes to alleviate poverty in the constituents.
“The $1milliom dollar per constituency is on course and will be provided to support the assemblies in their effort to accelerate development in the constituencies,” Mr Karbo assured. –peacefmonline.com
