Presiding Members of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country have been directed by the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG) to pay GHC1000 for the procurement of gowns as uniform for their meeting.
NALAG, in a circular dated October 5 to the Birim North District Assembly in the Eastern Region said “you are respectfully requested to procure gowns to be used by PMs as uniforms for their Assembly meetings in their respective MMDAs.”
“The cost per gown is GHC1000 and mode of payment is each MMDA is expected to pay the amount in the name of NALAG by cheque before October 25, 2018”.
Kokro Amankwah, the General Secretary of NALAG, noted that the decision was taken with the approval of the Presiding Members.
“I have been a presiding member for two consecutive times, when you enter the assembly, sometimes it is even difficult for you to identify who is the Speaker of the Assembly, the gowns and other accoutrements would make the Office of the Presiding Member at sitting very important and authoritative,” he stressed. –starrfmonline.com
