Two male teachers are to appear before the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Education Service (GES) for their alleged involvement in sexual relations with female students in their respective schools.
They are Douglas Adade, a Visual Arts teacher, at the Saint Louis Senior High School (SHS), and Matthew Asante Darko, a tutor at the Kumasi Girls SHS.
The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the GES, Mark Ofori, said the teachers are currently on interdiction, pending the outcome of findings by the disciplinary committee.
He said in the case of Mr Adade, the victim, a form three student, reported of alleged rape by the tutor to the school authorities, who in turn, made a formal report at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Police Station, after which he was arrested and later granted bail.
Mr Ofori said Mr Adade was, however, re-arrested on the orders of the Zongo Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)Kwaku Buah.
He said in the case of Matthew Asante Darko, his victim alleged that he ‘drugged’ her and raped her.
Mr Ofori said when confronted by the school authorities after the victim had made a complaint, Mr Darko denied any such incident.
He said the parents later reported the case to the police leading also to his arrest.
