Torgbui Adzesi Dzaga VI, Acting President, Awudome Traditional Council, in the Ho West District of the Volta Region, has appealed to government to complete work on the Kpeve water extension project.
He said the project which was in its second phase and expected to extend water supply to communities in the Awudome Traditional Area, had delayed for years and appealed to government to expedite action on the project.
Torgbui Dzaga made the appeal at a durbar to climax this year’s Awudome Yam Festival on the theme: “Rallying Awudome State for Development.”
He said it appeared the traditional area had been abandoned and sited the bad state of Awudome – Dzolokpuita and Anyirawase – Tsibu roads and asked government to fix the stretches to open up the area for development.
Togbe Dzaga said the poor road network was affecting agribusinesses and occasionally cut off some communities during the rainy season and needed quick attention.
He asked the people to form farming cooperative unions and go into commercial farming and take advantage of government’s policies to enhance their lots.
Mr Biadela Mortey Akpadzi, former Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) Boss, urged the people not to depend solely on government for development and encouraged the youth to come together and develop the area.
He advised unemployed youth in the area to venture into trade and craftsmanship. GNA
