As part of activities marking the 40th anniversary celebration the Saint Stephen Catholic Church (SSCC), the Darkuman branch embarked on a health walk last Saturday in Accra.
The walk was led by the priest- in-charge of SSCC, Reverend Father Bonaventure Quaidoo on the theme: ‘Health is Wealth’.
Parishioners converged on the church premises at 6:00a.m and proceeded with the walk amidst brass band music through some principal streets of Accra.
Rev. Fr Quaidoo in an interview with the Ghanaian Times said as a church, the health and spiritual needs of parishioners were paramount to them.
He stressed on the need for Christians to make their health a priority at all times.
Rev. Fr Quaidoo noted that Christians must endeavour to adopt healthy lifestyles in all their activities.
“Heath is wealth and all must endeavour to adopt healthy practices such as eating balanced diets and exercises regularly to ensure their fitness,” he added.
The main purpose of the health walk was to create awareness on Breast Cancer and Prostrate Cancer, two of the most common types of cancer in men and women.
Rev.Fr Quaidoo urged Christians to visit the health facilities for regularly checkups.
He noted that part of the programme line-up for the celebration include Bible quiz, games, donation to orphanages, evangelism, pastoral visit by the Apostolic Administrator of the Accra, Archbishop Gabriel Palmer Buckle.
