The La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mrs. Jennifer Dede Adjabeng has urged parents to ensure that every child of school going age attends school.
According to her, the bottlenecks in their wards attending school had been resolved by government hence the need for parents to send their children to school.
The MCE said this when she toured some public schools as part of ‘My First Day at School’ celebration.
The event held nationwide was meant to welcome basic school pupils entering school for the first time.
Mrs. Adjabeng presented assorted education materials, biscuits and other goodies to the children.
The school she visited included, the Madina 1and 4 Basic Schools, the Madina Demonstration Schools, the La Nkwantanang I and 2 Basic Schools and the Ebenezer Presbyterian Basic School.
The MCE stated that the days where parents under the guise of poverty refuse their children to school were gone and warned that any parent who refuses to send the ward to school would be arrested and prosecuted.
“There is no more excuses for not sending children to school, government has made your work easier, you just have to guide your child to school to ensure that he becomes part of the enlightened society that would help transformation in the area in future,” he added.
Mrs. Adjabeng urged the school authorities to ensure that they adopt appropriate measures to make the school environment friendly and motivating to the pupils.
